Made-to-Measure Wallpapers

How it works:

  • Measure your wall: measure your wall in different places along the height and width and take the maximum measurement. As few walls are truly square, allow for this and always add a few centimetres to be on the safe side. We will make your wallpaper to the exact dimensions you give us.
  • Decide which map you would like, if you're unsure or would like more information on the type of mapping available see our 'Choosing a Map' guide.
  • Fill in our quote form and tell us your wall size, the type of map you want, the postcode to centre your map on & your email address.
  • Or if you would prefer to discuss your requirements call us on 01344 427647.
  • We'll send you a price and a free low resolution digital proof when applied for through our Online Tool.
  • If you'd like to go ahead and place an order let us know and we'll send you a link to your unique wallpaper product page allowing you to place your order securely online.
  • If you wish to make changes to the coverage of your map, we'll work with you to get your map just right and if necessary send you further proofs.
  • Once you have approved your map sit back and wait for your wallpaper to arrive (approx 10 days from placing your order). Make sure you supply a delivery address that is occupied during the day.
  • If you are using a decorator to install your wallpaper we advise not booking them until your wallpaper has arrived.

What to expect:

  • It is rolled and printed on a series of drops or sections. Depending on the total width of your wallpaper, these drops will be printed on paper either 24" or 40" wide, with the final drop pre-cut to complete the total width.
  • The wallpaper comes with a printers' rough cut "white bleed" at the top and bottom that will need to be trimmed. The top bleed will show the sequential numbering for each drop.
  • You will need a craft knife and a straight edge to remove the white bleed - this can be removed before application to the wall or when on the wall.

ENSURE THE WALL IS PRIMED, SMOOTH, DUST FREE AND COMPLETELY DRY

NEVER STRETCH OR FORCE THE WALLPAPER WHEN INSTALLING.

Preparing your surface:

  • Remove any loose wallpaper or paint and fill any holes with a suitable filler, ensure the surface of the wall is primed, smooth, clean, dry and dust free.
  • Newly plastered walls should be allowed to dry out sufficiently (check with your plasterer how long this should be).
  • All walls must be prepared with a white primer/sealer. Ensure it has been allowed to dry fully (sometimes up to 14 days) to ensure no moisture is retained.
  • If the surface is porous as with skimmed walls or plasterboard they will need to be primed/sealed before hanging your wallpaper.
  • You may also need to prime the wall if it is a dark colour to avoid show through, this is particularly important on wallpapers that have a white or pale base colour.
  • Do not apply the wallpaper to walls with a history of mould formation or any form of surface failure (damp, crumbling, infestation etc).
  • If the wall is not correctly prepared, the paper may not be able to properly adhere to it.
  • It is important that your first piece is hung straight so drawing a vertical line is a good idea. To do this measure the width of the wallpaper and draw a vertical line down the wall using a spirit level to ensure it is straight. This line can now be used as a guide to hang the first panel.

Standard (Pasteable) Wallpaper:

A smooth, PVC Free, matt non-woven wallpaper of 300 microns with high opacity and excellent wet strength resistance. Can be hung using standard wallpaper paste and does not require any lamination. Flame retardant rating of B-s1.

This wallpaper requires wallpaper paste which can be bought from any DIY store and should be applied to the wall rather than the paper before hanging.

When applying the wallpaper to the wall start at the top and 'gently' apply pressure with a wallpaper smoothing brush using downward strokes, do not scrub the paper, rub hard or pull and stretch the paper as this can distort the image on the wallpaper.

Self Adhesive Wallpaper:

A fully re-positionable Wallpaper with a unique Pressure Sensitive Adhesive.

It's paste free adhesive backing means it can be used on any non porous, pre-primed surface.

  • 280gsm Polyester Blend.
  • Will stick to any non porous, pre-primed surface including walls, doors and windows.
  • Will not damage host surface.
  • Very durable - will not rip or wrinkle.
  • Smooth Texture, Matte Finish.
  • This wallpaper is self-adhesive and has backing paper that will need to be removed when hanging.
  • The backing paper may look creased. These creases will not appear on the printed vinyl side when the backing paper is removed and the vinyl paper is applied to the wall.
  DO NOT USE WALLPAPER PASTE.
DO NOT USE WATER WHEN HANGING THE WALLPAPER.

If you're concerned your wall will not properly accept the wallpaper due to the painted surface, damp, roughness or for any other reason, use an additional non-water based spray grip from your local DIY supplier when applying the wallpaper.

How to hang your Self Adhesive wallpaper:

The wallpaper is self-adhesive. DO NOT use water-based wallpaper pastes.

  • Peel off approx 50cm of the backing from the top of the first panel and gently position it on the wall.
  • Once positioned you can remove the rest of the backing smoothing in a downward direction as you go, do not pull or stretch the paper as this can distort the image on the wallpaper.
  • Ensure you apply a steady, even pressure over the entire wallpaper surface.
  • DO NOT stretch or force the wallpaper into position. This can cause bubbling to occur over time and also cause the adhesive to fail as the paper returns to its non-stretched state.
  • If you need to reposition the paper gently peel it off in small sections and reposition (unlike traditional wallpaper you will not be able to slide it on the wall surface to reposition it).
  • Once the first panel is in place and you are happy with it’s position the second panel can be hung, they should butt join and not overlap.
  • Once the wallpaper is in place any excess edges can be trimmed off using a sharp knife.
  • Try not to let the adhesive side stick to itself. If this happens, gently prise it apart - the wallpaper should not wrinkle.
  • Should you run into placement difficulties when hanging the wallpaper, gently peel it back off the wall and re-hang.

  DO NOT USE WALLPAPER PASTE.

DO NOT USE WATER WHEN HANGING THE WALLPAPER.

DO NOT STRETCH OR FORCE THE WALLPAPER.
